How often do you treat yourself? Do you know how to treat yourself? Do you ever feel guilty about treating yourself because you feel you don’t deserve it? Maybe because you feel you should be treating someone else?

Treating one’s self can range from the biggest of mountains to the smallest of molehills.

It’s a necessity. Yeah, I said it. IT’S NECESSARY. You may ask WHAT IS treating myself? Welp, it can mean treating yourself to a nice full body spa, hand, foot, or back massage, to a nice tall handcrafted latte from Starbucks. Whatever you can afford. Treating yourself involves indulging in HEALTHY things that make YOU happy. Have you ever noticed that the things that make us happy, no matter how big or small, force us to live in that present moment? It’s nothing you actively think about, because it’s something you enjoy.

For instance, your favorite ice cream. That first taste is savory. You close your eyes, lick and smack your lips even though you might be in public, you don’t give a damn, because that ice cream is the sh*t. You’re saying mmmm mmm mmm and everyone is telling you to stfu because you sound like you’re having an orgasm with your food. That feeling. That feeling brings us back to the present. It brings us in the moment of life that we all subconsciously scurry away from. Life is hectic. There are families to take care of, and work to do. We can’t always be off 24/7, but we can always be mindful.

Get you a latte. Eat that brownie. Go for a walk. Go to the gym. Write in your journal. Have a cup of tea. Treat yourself to dinner or a movie. Take that 5 mins of quiet as you lock yourself in the bathroom stall at work so you don’t have to kill somebody. Or you can just have 5 mins of quiet right before or after work in your car. No one should bother you there.

Slow down and absorb the present to stay in the moment.
